The Gum Arabic Solution for the Arts is a universal, reversible binder made from a 30% solution of gum arabic.

Gum arabic is a natural substance derived from trees of the acacia family. The gum is a transparent mucilage that oozes from the bark.

The gum arabic solution is ready to use and can be applied in a variety of ways. It can be used to make reversible adhesives, as a binder in the production of dry pastels, or as a base for watercolors, gouaches, tempera, inks, illumination, or glass painting. It is ideal to add a few drops to a watercolor wash to increase fluidity and impart shine, brilliance, and depth once dry. By diluting the gum arabic solution, you can coat watercolor paper to allow the brush to glide smoothly over the paper and enhance the fluidity of the watercolor.

Application:

Mix with properly prepared pigments (ground in an aqueous phase). Clean equipment with water.
