The "Le liant huile pour les Arts" is a ready-to-use, handcrafted grinding medium made from vegetable oils that cause minimal yellowing.

This binder allows for the preparation of oil paints by grinding pigments. It is highly compatible with pigments and promotes their wetting. Its precise formula contains just the right amount of siccatives (additives that promote the oxidation of the oil and thus its polymerization) for optimal drying both on the surface and deep within the paint. Thanks to its viscosity, the oil binder produces an oil with a pleasant feel.

The Artisan Pastellier oil medium can be thinned and cleaned with organic solvents such as mineral spirits or turpentine.

Directions for use:

Application:

Stir well before use. Make a small pile of pigment on the glass plate or tile. Make a small indentations and pour a littlebinder oil into it. Using the painter’s knife, mix the pigment thoroughly and then grind it using the grinding wheeluntil you obtain a perfectly smooth, even paste with no lumps.

For a “fine” grind, use the frosted glass grinder (or the half-roller) to apply continuous circular motion to the prepared dough without applying too much pressure. While grinding, be sure to keep the dough, which tends to pile up on the pulley, centeredredge of the grinding surface.

For faster drying to the core, a drop of the Artisan Pastellier's quick-drying medium can be added during the grinding process for a small amount of paint.

Clean the equipment with mineral spirits or turpentine.

Store in the original container, tightly closed, away from moisture in a well-ventilated area. Store at a temperature below 40°C.
